Lolita Blog Carnival: Lolita Designer I’d Like To Meet

I’m writing this last week’s Lolita Blog Carnival post right after returning from New York where I attended a tea party with special guest Misako Aoki thanks to Rufflecon and the Japan Society. So it seems fitting that the subject is about meeting new people in the lolita fashion industry.

Innocent World

Innocent World Designer
There are a couple lolita designers that I would like to meet. But the one I want to meet the most is the designer of Innocent world, Yumi Fujihara (pictured to the left, photo is from the Innocent World Designer’s blog). While I’ve had the distinct pleasure of meeting designers from Baby the Stars Shine Bright, Alice and the Pirates, Putumayo and h.Naoto at various events in the US, I’ve unfortunately not been able to meet anyone from Innocent World which is one of my absolute favorite brands. In fact, the only event I’ve ever attended which featured anything at all from Innocent World was Frill in 2013, when they had items shipped over for a fashion show featuring local girls which the Frill staff orchestrated. I love the detail and care that goes into Innocent World designs; they use a lot of custom lace and embroidery, and a lot of really lovely heirloom detailing, and the artwork is absolutely lovely.

Angelic Pretty

Maki and AsukaJust barely in second place (and mostly because I feel like a lot of people have been able to meet them, so it’s less of a dream / stretch to think I might sometime in the future), are Maki and Asuka of Angelic Pretty (pictured to the right in a photo from their old blog). Angelic Pretty is the brand through which I fell in love with lolita (my very first piece I ever fell in love with was a set they offered which consisted of an old school princess-style wine x white top and skirt) and there are more pieces among my Angelic Pretty collection in my closet that are in my absolute favorites category than any other brand. My first pieces of brand were AP, and I shop there more than any other brand. I love the bright colors, the cuteness, and the just general happiness of the brand. It’s like sunshine in clothing form, really.

Of course, if me meeting the Baby the Stars Shine Bright designers or Misako Aoki is any indication of how things would go, I’m sure I’d become the ultimate klutz and totally chicken out when it came to meeting any of the three amazingly talented ladies listed here!

  1. Just letting you know that the girl on the left isn’t Maki (Maki has a really ugly fat face with a weird nose, looks old and is pretty chubby, while the girl in the photo is the adorable Yue, an Angelic Pretty model; it’s also written that it’s Yue above the photo on the blog you linked).

    1. Oh jeeze, that’s awkward. You are totally right, of course. I was looking for a photo of at least one of them in one of my favorite prints, so I’d searched on Google Images, and I totally just saw Asuka in SNT and I guess I didn’t look past her. That’s really funny; because yeah, they look nothing alike. Oops. I’ll swap out the photo. XD

    1. I wish I could go! Unfortunately I’m saving up to buy a car right now so I can’t afford to travel overseas. 🙁

Thank you so much for telling me about it though! ^_^
