Innocent World Mini Review

I just got my latest IW order, and I thought I’d do a quick mini review.

I ordered the Innocent World PhotoBook, Rose Lace Millefeuille Bolero in green, and the Torchon Lace and Pearl Head Bow in Chocolate from the sale which is now sold out.

I also stupidly didn’t re-read the thing that says “Be sure to read before placing an order】 Please be sure to read this as some areas cannot be shipped. CLICK HERE because I knew that EMS had resumed to the US.

That was stupid of me, because you must put the special phrase from that page into your order notes to order.

Don’t be stupid like me if you order: Check the notes!

I placed my order on Fri 4/1/2022 2:29 PM and on Sun 4/3/2022 8:33 PM I got the following reply:

Cue immediate panic.

I went back to the site, read the important notice and re-put in my order (with the special code phrase and an apology) on Sun 4/3/2022 8:40 PM. They sent me a paypal invoice Tue 4/5/2022 2:38 AM. The invoice was due April 12th, and here is the cost breakdown for ordering those 3 items to the US

I’m a disaster recently, so I didn’t see this until Friday, and I paid them Fri 4/8/2022 3:29 PM. They replied back to me with the tracking number for my order Tue 4/12/2022 12:45 AM.

Here is the tracking, it was shipped with EMS, and yes, you did read above correctly, the current shipping rate is 5,000 yen (~$40 USD).

So, all in all, about 4 days-ish plus or minus some time zone changes to get to me from Japan, which, is really not bad at all.

The order came in a really big box which could have fit like… at least two whole IW JSKs in it, so that might be part of why shipping was so high for so little of an order, lol. The box was also super beat up, but inside everything was safe.

Inside my headbow and the book were wrapped in little bubble envelopes…

And then everything was wrapped in plastic again to keep it safe and dry in case the package got wet. The book is really nice with full color photos of Misako and Midori. Some of the reverse pages have text (like little poems / nursery rhyme type stuff) in English / Japanese. It was a delight to flip through and I want to take some time to look at it properly now that the holiday weekend is over.

There was a small problem with my clearance headbow; one of the pearls is kind of pulled a bit loose. However, it was on clearance and they now have taken it down off of the site, so I would not be surprised if it was like the last one. Innocent World has really strict quality control standards in my experience, so I do think this was just something that happened over time and was missed. Given I didn’t pay full price and that I have bought B-grade items in the past, I’m not upset. It’s an easy fix to tighten it up with a couple stitches.

The bolero is a really nice creamy sort of de-saturated mint, with slightly more lettucey colored lace. I got it with the idea that I would pair it with some of my pieces that have this sort of pale green in the leaves of florals, as a different accent color. I’m very pleased with everything I got.

Have you ordered anything from Innocent World lately? What did you pick up?
